Serving North Texas well and plumbing customers since 2006.

After a long, hot summer, your well may have worked harder than usual. Irrigation, pool use, outdoor watering and everyday household demand all add run time to the pump and extra cycles to the pressure tank. That is why fall is a good time for a post-summer well check.

I spent eight years in the well industry in Amarillo before joining Flowcore Water in 2022, and I see the same pattern every year: many of the problems that show up in October started in July. If you are on a well in Saginaw, Haslet, Azle or anywhere across North Texas, small issues caught now are usually easier to handle.

To get on the schedule, book a well system check with our team or call (817) 480-7971.

What Are the Signs Your Well Is Struggling After Summer?

The most common signs a well is struggling after summer are changes in water pressure, slower recovery between uses, unusual noises from the pump or tank, and a pump that cycles on and off more often than it used to. Any one of these can mean the system needs attention before winter.

Here is what each one tends to look like at home:

  • Changes in water pressure, such as pressure that drops off when the sprinklers run, or a shower that weakens partway through. Our guide to why well water pressure runs low covers the usual causes.

  • Slower recovery, where the well takes noticeably longer to catch up after laundry, irrigation or a house full of showers.

  • Unusual noises, like clicking, humming or banging from the pump, the pressure switch or the tank.

  • Frequent cycling, where the pump turns on and off in short bursts instead of running steadily. If it keeps tripping the breaker, read what causes a well pump to keep shutting off.

None of these signs means something has failed. They are the system telling you it is worth a look, and addressing small issues now can help keep your water running smoothly through fall and winter.

Post-summer well check

What Does a Post-Summer Well Check Include?

A Flowcore Water post-summer well check covers six areas: well pump performance, water pressure, pressure tank operation, flow and recovery, electrical connections, and visible signs of wear or potential issues. The goal is to find anything summer demand has worn down before colder weather puts its own strain on the system.

What We Look At

  • Well pump performance, so you know the pump is keeping up with normal household demand.

  • Water pressure, measured at the system rather than judged by how the shower feels.

  • Pressure tank operation, since a tank that is not holding its charge makes the pump work harder.

  • Flow and recovery, to see how the well is refilling after a season of heavy use.

  • Electrical connections at the control box and pressure switch.

  • Signs of wear or potential issues that are easier to plan for now than to deal with in an emergency.

Keeping It on a Schedule

If you would rather not think about it every season, our well maintenance plan puts these checks on a regular schedule. For more on timing, see how often a North Texas well should be serviced.
